Portugal's Silver Coast sees the launch of new resort Falésia D'El Rey.

Well-known international developer, the Beltico Group, owners of the award-winning Praia D'El Rey Golf & Beach Resort on Portugal's Silver Coast, announce the approval of their next five star golf and leisure resort, Falésia D'El Rey.

"Praia D'El Rey Golf and Beach Resort put the Silver Coast on the map", says Beltico Chairman Stuart Swycher, "And we are delighted that over 250,000 people every year now visit Praia D'El Rey and the surrounding area, with over 900 families having bought a property here.

"Now, with the launch of our next project Falésia D'El Rey, we aim to repeat our success, and introduce even more people to the barefoot luxury lifestyle of the Silver Coast".

Falésia D'El Rey is a spectacular 230-hectare front-line ocean site, right on the cliffs overlooking the sea and beaches of the nearby Óbidos lagoon. Here Beltico will develop a five star luxury resort, with an 18-hole links golf course and golf clubhouse, a five star contemporary hotel overlooking the sea plus a boutique hotel with spa, swimming pools, tennis courts, shops, exercise circuits and more.

Declared a Project of National Interest by the Portuguese authorities, at Falésia D'El Rey 475 luxury properties will be created around the new golf course which is designed by the world renowned American golf course architect Pete Dye, with front line ocean views and ranging from apartments (192) and townhouses (205) to luxury detached villas (78).

The resort's architects is the Lisbon-based award-winning Mário Sua Kay´s office, who designed an eco-friendly luxury resort, 'easy living' way of life, using the latest eco-construction techniques to minimize energy and maximize the beach's natural sunlight and sea breezes, which complements the philosophy of the Beltico Group Owners. As an environmental friendly resort the Beltico Group´s vision is to support the region and local people and offer a world-class destination to clients who want to be active or simply soak in the natural beauty.

Estrelas de televisão e artistas internacionais actuarão em Portugal a 17 de Outubro na cerimónia de Gala Europeia do “World Travel Awards” que decorrerá no Hotel de 5 Estrelas Praia D’El Rey Marriott Golf & Beach Resort. Estarão presentes nesta prestigiosa cerimónia centenas de profissionais Europeus do sector do turismo.

Os prémios são descritos pelo “Wall Street Journal” como os “Óscares” do sector do turismo. Lançado em 1993, este importante evento anual tem como objectivo reconhecer e recompensar a excelência em diversas áreas do sector do turismo a nível Europeu.

Now is the best time to invest in Portuguese property, say several real estate experts.

The reason behind it - is that property prices in Portugal are currently at a low, one that is much lower than in its competing neighbor and longtime overseas investment favourite, Spain. But with Portugal coming out of a recession—the country’s gross domestic product grew by 0.03 per cent during the second quarter of this year— property prices will only increase in 2010, making now the time to buy and the next five years the time to reap the rewards.

Portugal’s Silver Coast (Costa de Prata) is one of the greatest regions in demand, with property values estimated to rise by 50 to 75 percent by 2015, according to forecasters. Here, miles of deserted beaches, olive groves and vineyards stretch out along the central coastline, and quaint villages and medieval towns like Obidos boast original city walls and picturesque castles, making the area a favourite attraction in Europe and much less-developed alternative to many Spanish coastal towns or costas.

Like Spain in prior years, golf resorts and properties are also drawing holidaymakers and investors to Portugal. Properties and resorts around the infamous Algarve Golf Course in the country’s southernmost region have popped up in recent years, while on the Silver Coast, courses like Praia d'el Rey and Rio Maior have spurred a throng of interest by developers.

Although surveys indicate that Spain still remains popular with UK investors (and will likely still be one of the top choices), the country continues to experience a credit crunch, giving Portugal an advantage in the investment game for the first time in a while.

On 17th October 2009, the five star Marriott hotel in the Praia D’El Rey Golf & Beach Resort, on Portugal’s Silver Coast, will be hosting the European leg of the highly prestigious 2009 World Travel Awards.

Hundreds of travel professionals and international media representatives will be in the resort to celebrate the European Gala Awards ceremony,– the first time the World Travel Awards have been hosted in Portugal.

Dubbed the “Oscars of the travel industry” by the Wall Street Journal and televised by BBC World, votes for the World Travel Awards are cast by an audience of 167,000 travel agents and tourism professionals from 198 countries, making them the greatest form of recognition in the travel business.

“We are delighted to have been chosen to host this prestigious event,” says Stuart Swycher, the Chairman of Beltico Group, owners of the resort.  “Praia D’El Rey won Portugal’s Leading Resort at the World Travel Awards in 2007 and 2008, and we are looking forward to welcoming the travel industry’s key decision makers to Portugal’s Silver Coast in October this year.”

But while the Algarve is undoubtedly a jewel in Portugal's crown, there is a serious rival in Lisbon's Silver Coast.

The International Association of Golf Tour Operators named the Lisbon Silver Coast as the “Golf Destination of the Year” in 2007, ahead of the Algarve and Andalucia and with half a dozen quality courses, it’s easy to see why."
